P/GSI Facts - Acquisition

  • P/GSI is the only service company in the oil and gas industry to offer long, wide aperture, 3-component geophone arrays for downhole deployment and acquisition. P/GSI's standard tubing deployed borehole seismic arrays have 80, 160, 240, 320, or 400 levels all with three components. A P/GSI borehole seismic array with 80 levels is 4,000 ft long. A 400 level array is 20,000 ft long. A 400 level 3C array deploys a total of 1,200 channels.
  • P/GSI can deploy its 80 level receiver arrays in a single well or simultaneously in multiple wells as demonstrated in several projects. As a result each surface seismic shot point has to be occupied or fired only once. This will significantly improve the data quality and reduce the acquisition time and cost per trace of the 3D VSP data.
  • P/GSI receiver arrays use dedicated twisted wire pairs to connect each channel. There is no loss of receiver bandwidth due to digital under-sampling. This enables recording of 1 kHz or more bandwidth of seismic signals where available.
  • P/GSI's 3rd generation cable array is tested and certified to work at pressures up to 25,000 psi and temperatures up to 400° F. There are no critical electronic components deployed downhole in the P/GSI array. The lack of downhole electronics improves the reliability of the P/GSI downhole arrays.
  • P/GSI can replace defective receiver pods in the field, thus reducing down time and delays in data acquisition.
